It is difficult, for the price, to complain about this delicious
Sicilian red. The Aglianico is the leading red grape variety from southern Italy. It originally came from Greece and for generations was known as the Hellenica.
The Settesoli Aglianico has a
healthy purple-crimson colour and a spicy nose with a hint of liquorice. The palate is full-bodied with attractive juicy berry and damson flavours. It has a delightful texture with a velvety finish. This
wine won a bronze medal at the International Wine Challenge in London in May 2007.
Food guide: Veal Cordon Bleu, pork dishes, Chicken Chasseur, most other poultry but not game.
Cellar Note:
Drink now but it will improve for up to 3 years.
