Just £4.45 until August 3, 2008
This
wine is made from grapes grown near the Atlantic coast of the Gascony region of Southwest France, hence the name Atlantique. The area is better known in general for the production of Armagnac
This
wine was a real delight and the first time I had tasted a blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc with 35% Gros Manseng, or indeed anything like it. Gros Manseng is indigenous in the region and gives some muscle to
the blend. The wine has a bright, clear gold colour and tempting aromas of apricots, tropical fruits and citrus which unite together on a smooth, gentle palate which has quite a rich finish.
Food
guide: Ideal with oysters and many other shellfish. It should also be excellent with vegetarian dishes such as warm goat's cheese salad, asparagus, baked aubergine or omelette.
Cellar Note: Keep for a maximum of 12 months.
