This excellent value for money wine costs just £4.66 with Thresher and Wine Rack's 3 for 2 offer.

The name was the ingenious idea of Jean-Claude Mas, owner of Les Domaines Paul Mas and the label portrays a frog holding a wineglass with the words 'Ribet Red' underneath.

The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot and the grapes are grown in the Languedoc on the hills between the Mediterranean and the Hérault valley. 25% of the blend is aged in new oak barrel for 4 months. The other 75% is matured in stainless steel vats prior to bottling.

Arrogant Frog Red is a deep dark garnet colour with a full fruity nose. The palate is silky smooth and well balanced, full of blackberry fruit and a touch of spicy vanilla.

Food guide: Can be drunk alone, or with coarse pâtés and terrines, medium-flavoured cheeses, ideal with the Christmas turkey and all poultry including game.

Cellar Note: Can be kept for up to 5 years
