The stone gate was the entrance to the original family winery operated
by Dr. William Thomas Angove, who actually prescribed wine and brandy to his patients in the ironically named 'Tea Tree Gully' near Adelaide. Founded by a family of Cornish origin in 1886, the wine
business remains in family hands.
The wine has a deep, almost inky colour and a nose redolent of plums. The palate is rich, ripe and damson-like with spicy notes.
Food guide: Most red meats
especially game and full-flavoured cheeses.
