A memorable wine on several counts. It comes from the fifth generation Angove family, with such distinctive property names as their original cellars at Tea Tree Gully and their current headquarters at Bookmark Avenue. Also Angove's has been selected as Winery of the Year 2008 by the annual Australian wine book Quaff. Finally the label stands out with the bright yellow road sign warning of Bear Crossing – sales of the wine support the Australian Koala Foundation.

A blend of 2 red Rhône varieties – 85% Shiraz and 15% Carignan – it has a purple-red colour with raspberry, blackberry and blueberry aromas. It is rich and spicy without being a big wine in any way but it is tasty and a little spicy and gives a flavoursome mouthful for quaffing.

Food guide: spicy sausages, barbecued chicken, kebabs and meat balls.

Cellar Note: Drink within 18 months.
