The small print on the back label tells one that this lively,
refreshing, crisp, dry white was made for the Sherry giant Gonzales Byass by winemaker Miguel Martens. He has made a sensible selection in choosing the native Verdejo (Verdelho) variety, which has been
giving attractive results in Australia for some years.
This middleweight wine is well structured on a firm palate at 12.5% abv. It has a fresh gooseberry nose with melon hints and leaves a clean
dry finish. It would have scored higher but was felt to have been slightly overpriced. £3.99 to £4.49 might be more accurate.
Food Guide: As an aperitif, with shellfish, calamares, cold meats,
hard cheeses such as Spanish Manchego or Italian Pecorino.
